The Hotel Indigo Jacksonville-Deerwood Park is located at 9840 Tapestry Park Circle. It is 15-20 minutes from downtown Jacksonville and about the same timeframe to the city's beaches. That makes it a pretty darn good location.
But are the rooms, guest service, food and surrounding neighborhood also pretty darn good, pretty darn bad, or to quote Tony the Tiger Grrreat!
Let's dive in.
The room felt much bigger than 408 square feet . It was clean and had a nice-sized bathroom. There are rooms with a view of a lake.
Unfortunately, the bed was as hard as a rock. The pillows were uncomfortable to the point that I initially considered sleeping without a pillow.
Hotel Indigo Jacksonville-Deerwood Park sits in the Tapestry Park Neighborhood. It seems that a lot of stores in this section of the 3.4 million square foot park are either closed or not yet open.
I've seen near every square foot of Tapestry Park. I can say that the area in which another hotel, the Aloft Jacksonville Tapestry Park, resides is livelier. Aloft Hotels are also a Marriott brand. They are rated as upscale.
The Hotel Indigo is on a lovely brick-lined street that dead-ends at the aforementioned lake. The lake is not named on their website nor on Google Maps. The no-name lake has a beautiful boardwalk. I had a very enjoyable time on my morning walkabout.
The hotel restaurant does have a name, 98 Forty East Bar and Bistro, though I can't say it is lovely. 98 Forty East Bar and Bistro is open for breakfast and dinner. The breakfast service was slow. I waited 10-15 minutes for a waiter to bring water and tea.
The friendly waitress was clearly being overworked. The omelette was decidedly average. I paid $30 for a veggie egg white omelette, fruit bowl and tea. If I stay at the hotel again, I'll pass on the bistro for breakfast.
Nor was I thrilled with the dinner menu; none of it was healthy. I would suggest following the red brick road of Tapestry Park Circle to the wonderful III Forks Steakhouse. They provide excellent service, food and wine.
I tip my hat to the wine at 98 Forty East Bar and Bistro; it was good.
The Hotel Indigo Jacksonville-Deerwood Park front desk folks were nice. In the evening, after I had gotten back from a concert, they offered to start the fire pit just for me! I politely declined. Even though it was a Tuesday, it would have been great if the bar had been open. After all, it wasn't much past 11:00 p.m.
The Hotel Indigo brand is rated upper upscale by Smith Travel Research. It is an international chain that will be celebrating their 20th anniversary next year. They have 145 locations and 128 still to come. (Stats provided by IHG, as of June 2023.)
The Hotel Indigo Jacksonville-Deerwood Park is perfect for business travelers. Some will find it fine for a vacation as it is nice in its own way.
Overall, it didn't appeal to me. I wouldn't refuse to stay there again. However, it won't be my first choice. I chose it this time because the Marriott Jacksonville Downtown is being renovated. See below for information on their renovation.
Despite the upper upscale rating of the brand, you will not be lavished in opulence at the Hotel Indigo Jacksonville-Deerwood Park. You will enjoy a solid stay.
